Working at SGC offers a unique and dynamic experience, with a variety of responsibilities that keep each day exciting. Let us take a closer look at a day in the life of one of our Warehouse Supervisors, Ben.
Ben wears many hats, from slotting products to handling technical issues with lift computers and Vocollect talkman equipment, receiving products, supervising the inbound dock, and more. Each day is filled with diverse tasks that keep him on his toes. A typical day for Ben involves running reports, reviewing slotting requests, and managing any issues that may arise, whether they are related to shipping, receiving, or technical aspects. Some days also include the responsibility of building routes to be picked before 5 pm, ensuring efficient operations.
Ben believes that the heart of SGC lies in its team. Ben mentioned how he really enjoys working with his peers. The warehouse’s ability to collaborate and work together makes accomplishing tasks, no matter how challenging, an achievable thing. Ben has expanded his skills, he started out not knowing how to drive a power jack and now has comprehensive knowledge of SGC warehousing practices.
“SGC is like a second family,” said Ben, “it might sound cheesy, but it’s true.” He believes the connections formed over the years contribute to a positive work environment, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie. Looking ahead, Ben envisions continuing to work with the team, striving to make SGC the best it can be.
Beyond the workplace, Ben is passionate about art, music, hockey, and Jeep adventures. He is even dabbling in creating a new genre of music featuring the kazoo! A point of pride for Ben is his ability to provide a better life for his family. It is easy to see that family is especially important to him. He and his wife Alicia share two daughters. If given the chance to visit any place in the world, Hawaii tops his list. Not just for its scenic beauty, but also to proudly say he has set foot in all 50 states.
