Argentinian Choripan Sandwich

Argentinian Choripán is a popular street food in Argentina that consists of a grilled chorizo sausage served on a crusty bread roll with chimichurri sauce. The dish is highly customizable, and you can add or remove toppings to suit your taste. Perfect for a casual dining experience or a quick lunch, this won’t be your typical sandwich added to the menu.

 

Here's a simple recipe to make your own delicious Argentinian Choripán Sandwich for your restaurant:

 

Ingrediants

               1 lb Argentinian Chorizo – SGC# 214867

               1-2 french baguette(s), cut into chorizo length pieces – SGC# 208330

               1 tbsp olive oil  – SGC# 053059

 

For The Salsa

               1 large tomato, diced – SGC# 191957

               1 small sweet onion, diced – SGC# 191966

               1/2 tsp kosher salt – SGC# 052100

               1 tbsp olive oil – SGC# 053059

               1 tsp red wine vinegar – SGC# 125417

 

For the chimichurri

               1 onion finely chopped – SGC#191966

               1 jalapeno, chopped – SGC#

               3-4 garlic cloves minced – SGC# 192922

               ½ c red wine vinegar – SGC# 125417

               1tsp salt – SGC# 052100

               ½ c chopped cilantro – SGC# 193202

               2 tsbp oregano  – SGC# 191761

               ¾ c olive oil  – SGC# 053059

 

Instructions 

 

Step 1: Turn grill to medium high heat.

Step 2: While the grill is preheating, mix together the tomato, onion, olive oil, vinegar, and salt. Set aside at room temperature. Also, mix all of the ingredients for the chimichurri sauce

Step 3: Place the chorizo on the grill over direct heat, turning them often in order to get a nice char on the outside. Then, remove from the grill.

Step 4: Butterfly the chorizo by making a cut running the length of the link. Then spread the link open, exposing the inside of the sausage. Slice the baguette pieces open like a hot dog bun, and drizzle the inside of the bread with olive oil.

Step 5: Place the chorizo and bread cut side down on the grill. Char the inside of the chorizo and lightly brown the bread. Flip the chorizo and dress with some chimichurri while they finish cooking.

Step 6: Remove the bread and chorizo from the grill and assemble the sandwiches with chimichurri and salsa
