Bananas Foster
Bananas sautéed in butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon, finished with a splash of rum and served warm over vanilla ice cream. This is a decadent dessert that will meet all of your cravings.
This decadent twist on Bananas Foster combines classic caramelized flavors with a rich, nutty upgrade. Ripe bananas are sliced lengthwise and gently cooked in melted butter, allowing their natural sweetness to intensify as they soften. Brown sugar melts into the butter, creating a smooth caramel-like sauce enhanced with a touch of warm cinnamon. Creamy peanut butter is stirred in for a velvety texture and a subtle nutty depth that pairs beautifully with the bananas. A splash of dark rum brings bold flavor and a hint of warmth, while banana liqueur, if added, amplifies the fruit’s natural aroma. As the sauce thickens and coats the bananas, the result is a luscious, indulgent dessert best served warm over scoops of vanilla ice cream, where the cool creaminess balances the rich, buttery sauce.

- Gently place the banana halves in the skillet. Cook for 1–2 minutes on each side until they are coated and slightly softened.
· Remove the skillet from heat briefly. Carefully add the rum (and banana liqueur if using). Return to heat and ignite with a long match or lighter. Let the flames burn off (it takes a few seconds). Be very careful.
- Spoon the bananas and sauce over vanilla ice cream. Pour any remaining sauce from the pan over the top.
Tips: - Use ripe but firm bananas; they hold up better during cooking. - Dark rum gives a richer flavor than light rum. - For extra flair, sprinkle chopped toasted pecans over the ice cream.
